Two people who acknowledge each other's minds. Talk of work is fast, and neither lowers a goal. But warm words come from neither side.
ENTP × ESTP is the Business relation, one of the sixteen. Few words, and still it moves forward.
Written as ESTP × ENTP it is the same pair. In 16Personalities terms, the Debater and the Entrepreneur.
ESTP acknowledges ENTP's intellect, imagination and erudition; ENTP acknowledges ESTP's practicality, business sense and healthy sense of reality. The reasoning side and the practical side. Head of research and manager. Strong if the roles are separate.
In terms of the mechanism, the two share the second position, "logic that carries an idea through". The tool is the same, so talk of work is fast. But the first position differs. ENTP's "eye that sees possibilities" is ESTP's third position, something they can produce if asked but do not lead with, and ESTP's "force that pushes through" sits in the same place for ENTP. Each measures the other's strength by their own "I could if I had to". So respect and wariness appear at the same time.
Neither lowers a goal once set. Two static, outward-facing types; what they say, they do.
Playing cat and mouse, in turns.
The observation says the relationship between these two becomes cold and calculated rather than warm. Neither takes the risk of setting the emotional tone first, and neither says words of love. Stable, yet both feel unloved.
The empty places coincide. "Ethics of distance between people" is the most painful place for both, and neither can supply it for the other. What each wants most differs. ENTP is waiting for "bodily comfort"; ESTP for "the flow of what is coming"; and the other has neither in first position. The work runs; the warmth of daily life comes from no one. That is the shape of the business relation.
What holds the relationship is gain. It lasts while there is money and real success, and collapses when they vanish. ENTP by reading time, ESTP by the power at hand, take the advantage in turns.
Still, in work with separate roles it lasts long. Acknowledging each other's minds is the only bond these two have.
They understand practical matters. They see reality.
Pushy. Being made to comply hurts.
Warm words do not come.
Clever. Imaginative.
Always talking about the future, never using the power at hand.
Warm words do not come.
An ENTP woman chose a technical university in order to find an ambitious man, entered through friendship rather than competing in romance, and drew out talk of marriage by her intuition of timing. In exchange for material comfort she accepted independence and emotional coldness, the record says.
An ENTP man married to have a son, left when a daughter was born, and later became stepfather to another woman's son. A decision of will on the wife's side became the final parting, the record says.
Taking turns striking each other's weak spot and contesting the advantage: "a game of cat and mouse". Each covers their own ethical problems with "a healthy sense of reality" and "common sense", the observation says.
Steve Jobs (SLE) × Steve Wozniak (probably ILE)
Typing: Jobs agrees across published typings; Wozniak inferred
Wozniak the imagination and technique, Jobs the business sense and push. They founded a company together; Jobs told Wozniak a lower fee than the real one for an early contract job and kept the difference. Wozniak learned of it years later, and the relationship continued as a business one.
What matches: the equality of acknowledging each other's minds; a cold, calculated relationship; gain as the bond.
