In terms of the mechanism, INTJ's first position, "logic that carries reasoning through", corresponds to INTP's eighth, and INTJ's second, "eye that opens possibilities", to INTP's seventh. The seventh and eighth are places that are strong but not used consciously. So INTP understands what INTJ does. Understands, and yet does not do it themselves.
